Aww yeah, those modsters who brought us “All Day, and All of the Night” only released a Christmas single in 1977. “Father Christmas” tells the story about a department store Santa Claus who is beaten up by a group of teenage ruffians urging him to give them money instead of toys. Toys are useless and should be given “to the little rich boys” as sung in the song. Later in the song, a child asks for a job for his father for Christmas, or if a toy must be received on Christmas, be it a machine gun.
“Father Christmas” has been covered by of number of artists, including Smash Mouth, OK Go, Green Day and Save Ferris.
