25 days of christmas songs

The happiest, most confectionery song about snow

Between the prior year’s Target ads and last year’s Nexus phone (with Android Marshmallow!), you should be familiar with the song “Marshmallow World.” For me, the delightful little song entered my life when my dad purchased a copy of Dean Martin’s Christmas Show. It has become a little tradition between us now.

“Marshmallow World” was written in 1949 by Carl Sigman and Peter DeRose. The song makes no mention of Christmas, like a few others, but has weaseled its way onto Christmas albums and playlists to herald the season.

First a hit for Bing Crosby in 1950, it reached number 24 on the pop chart in the following January.

This happy little ditty has been covered by many artists including Darlene Love, Brenda Lee, Los Straitjackets, Regis Philbin and Seth MacFarlane.
